Automotive waste: a major challenge that is still under-exploited
Every year, the automotive sector produces almost 2 million tonnes of waste. Yet only 15% of this waste is actually collected, according to ADEME data.
With regard to end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), the reuse and recovery rate is currently 81%, whereas European Directive 2000/53/EC has required a rate of 95% since 2015.
